What to consider before changing your kitchen doors:
Firstly the decision to replace your kitchen cabinets will depend on the specific condition of your existing cabinets and your own personal preferences and needs. However, it's important to thoroughly inspect your existing kitchen cabinets to ensure it is in good enough condition to continue being used safely and effectively, if they are damaged, stained or waterlogged you may look to replace the kitchen cabinets too. We offer a range of easy to install kitchen units which you can find here.
Before embarking on any kitchen renovation project, it is important to carefully plan and measure the space to ensure that your new kitchen design fits properly and works well with the existing layout of the room. Therefore, it is crucial to take accurate measurements of your existing kitchen units to determine if there is sufficient space to accommodate your new plans, whether it is installing larger kitchen cabinets, adding a real stone worktop, or changing the layout of your kitchen entirely. By taking the time to measure your existing units and plan your new kitchen design accordingly, you can avoid costly mistakes.
One of the most important factors to consider is the cost of your kitchen renovation project. Kitchen renovations can quickly become expensive, and it's important to set a realistic budget and choose materials and finishes that fit within your price range.
Finding the right kitchen doors:
Once you are ready to commit to your new dream kitchen, you can start to consider what styles of doors you would like. You will also need to decide if you can to drill holes yourself or have them drilled for you. (If you do decide to drill your own holes you will need a 35mm hinge hole cutter).

Step by step guide to replacing your kitchen doors:
Firstly you will need to measure your existing kitchen cabinet doors, we recommend creating a kitchen plan so that you can keep track of how many kitchens doors or any accessories that you will need. Once you have measured your existing cabinet doors you can use your measurements to buy your kitchen doors. Whether you need standard sized doors or made to measure we offer both options, for a guide on measuring for your new doors, click this link to see our blog post guide.
Double and triple check your measurements, as the old saying goes "measure twice cut once". It's important to make sure your measurements are accurate when ordering replacement kitchen doors online as many bespoke products are unable to be returned.
Take off the existing kitchen doors and remove old hinges if necessary, if these look damaged or loose you might want to look at replacing them. (be careful when undoing hinges you don't allow the weight of the door to skew the hinge holes and damage the cabinets).
Install your new hinge plate to the inside of the cabinets ready to mount hinges. Bare in mind that when having holes drilled on your replacement kitchen doors, some styles or designs will require holes to be drilled on the left-hand or right-hand side of the cabinet doors as some designs are not reversible.
Ensuring the hinge arm remains at a right angle to the door, install the hinge itself to the replacement kitchen door. The hinge will fit snug into the drilled hole on the door.
Install the kitchen door complete with hinges onto the inside of the carcass using the hinge plate, securing the top hinge first followed by the lower hinge. (Most backplates can be adjusted if necessary).
Now your doors and kitchen cabinets are connected you would need to look at drilling handle holes where necessary, after which you can add finishing touches to your doors such as handles or knobs. See our range of handles here.
Finally you can adjust the doors to ensure they fit smoothly when closed onto your cabinets and ensure all screws are tight enough- but not too tight!
F.A.Q
Can I measure my cabinets instead of the doors? No. Kitchen cabinets are usually slightly larger than the cabinet doors themselves. It's always best to measure from top to bottom, and side to side of the back of your existing cabinet doors if possible.
How do I know what size replacement kitchen doors to order if I don't have any to measure? The simple answer will be to assume that the cabinet sides are either 15mm or 18mm in thickness, so all you will need to do is measure the total width of the cabinet, and reduce by 4mm if its a single unit, if it's a double unit divide the width by 2 and reduce by 4mm to get the width of your doors.
Do my replacement kitchen doors come with handle holes ready drilled? Unfortunately we are unable to send out our replacement kitchen door with handle holes pre-drilled, however if you need assistance doing so our experts can talk you through it. Alternatively jigs are available to purchase online to make the process easy.
How do I know if I need left-hand or right-hand holes drilled? Make sure to check which way your new kitchen doors will need to open, and which way round the design of these doors will be, some designs can only be installed facing one direction and cannot be flipped.
